Why do leaves change colors?



In response to the question "where do autumn colors come from?" we like to say "from the heavens over the central Adirondacks!" Fall is our favorite season: for years scientists have worked to answer this question and discovered that the primary reason for why leaves change is the increasing length of night during autumn.
